Andreas' ancestor, Rev. Martinus Buengerud was born about 1520 in Sonneburg. He was pastor at Neutsch in 1546 and at Zielensig in 1553. He signed the Formula of Concord (1577-1578), which is the doctrinal foundation of confessional Lutheranism. He died about 1590.

Andreas' grandfather, Andreas Buenger, appears next in the records following a gap left by the Thirty Years' War. He was born about 1618 and lived in Brandenburg on the Hovel.

Andreas' father, Rev. Johannes Buenger, was born about 11 January 1641, married Marie Hoevel Buchol on 6 June 1668, lived in Hohenseeden, and died in 1699.

Andreas and Margarethe were married in Ihleburg, Germany, and lived in Schoenbach in the Prussian Voigtland. Margarethe's father, Johann Redde, was a pastor from Ihleburg.
