George, Charlotte, and their four children were born in Saxe-Gotha, Germany. George was a tanner. By 1855 the family had immigrated to the United States and were living in the 4th ward of Sheboygan, WI. They attended Trinity Lutheran Church. George remarried after Charlotte died. According to the 1880 census, he was living with his wife, Josephine, who was the same age as him, and a niece named Gertrude who was 22 years old. Josephine and Gertrude both were born in Wartemberg, Germany. George was interred in block 12 of Sheboygan's Wildwood Cemetary on 8 August 1885. The grave marker is no longer visible. His second wife, Josephine, died on 11 May 1890.
